Biography
Born in Arlington, Massachusetts, Robert Creeley is often associated with a group of avant-garde poets who taught at Black Mountain College in North Carolina during the 1950s. Creeley taught all over North America, including a short stint at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and for 14 years at the University of New York at Buffalo. His distinctive poetic style, noted for its compression of language and emotion, has influenced generations of younger poets.
